Underground Comics
The Adventures of Fat Freddy’s Cat deal with subjects that are not overtly talked about in a humorous way. Opening the document one of the first comics is about Freddy the cat who is personified to appear as an important figure who is called to the white house to launch an attack that will attack the immune system causing people to turn them gay. Freddy lands in a nudist colony and proceeds to kill them all believing it is the group that is releasing the toxin and continues to kill everyone and himself but is still alive due to having nine lives. The comic ends and there seems to be no remorse or consequences for what he had done. The other comics focus on such issues of murder, adultery, the use of drugs, and child soldiers which are subjects that are always talked about but not put into a funny sense. These comics seem to deal with subject matter that is usually either not talked about or if it is talked about it is done in a more serious setting and not made fun of. In today's age, the subject matter is talked a lot about more in a serious way but are sometimes used in a more comical way but in the time that these comic books were coming out they were considered underground because of the time and subject matter were usually hidden and not talked about.
