Reconsidering the Superhero

Reading The Black Panther was different from what I would have excepted from the series of comics. In the comics about Black Panther he is king of Wakanda but he is hated by the people he rules over and there are plots to try and get rid of him as a leader. There are a lot of revolts against the king especially from the warriors who are supposed to protect him. As I was reading these comics I was very confused about the way the comics are set up because I don’t associate this type of story with Black Panther. I think I was confused because of the recent movie Black Panther that came out recently and the way they chose to interpret the story is interesting. The comics are very different compared to the movie because the people in the movie are not the main focus and appear happy about the world that they live in and do not fear the king but worship him. The people in the comics such as Aneka who was the captain of his royal guard had stolen some armor and became a midnight angel who has turned against T’challa. I think one aspect that is kept to a similar theme of betrayal of King T’challa is Ayo or W’Kabi in the movie both turn their backs on the king and create a revolution against him. Another interesting aspect is Shuri in the series of comics is supposedly dead but is still alive at the same time but in the movie, she is such a key figure providing T’challa with all his armor and she is so smart and provides so much of T’challa’s technology to help him fight crime.
